Shakaland

Here we get fully immersed into the culture both tasting the home brewed beer (takes getting used to) and checking out the zulu huts. You will see all the ladies sitting together and the men together too. We were told this was also devised by Shaka as a defence measure. Men always sit on the right and women on the left, so that the warriors can have it easy to defend the home by striking with the spear in the right hand and shield in the left. The mouth of the hut is also low enough that one must bend fully to enter, giving the homeowner enough time to react and attack if necessary.
